Text Box: Crime Response

Violent crimes including assault, robbery, and homicide often have devastating effects on those who experience such events. To this end, I’m working on a few projects exploring gender issues as they relate to resilience, recovery, and service utilization.

Project Summary

Ongoing Projects

· Experiences of Covictims of Homicide

· Sexual Assault Survivors Navigating the System: From Rape Exam to Sex offender Registry

· Understanding how the qualitative caretaker roles, provider roles, and gender are related to trauma response

· Conceptual model analysis

I began my doctoral studies exploring gender differences in appraisal and recovery from violent crime.  Specifically, I incorporated cognitive behavioral theories with gender specific ideas to develop a processing model that I explored using a qualitative design.

From this early work I expanded my ideas to incorporate the needs/experiences of sexual assault survivors and covictims of homicide.  Current projects focus on service utilization and case flow analysis.
